As caretakers or stewards of our great facilities, the Facilities Ministry Team is entrusted with the oversight, upkeep, maintenance, and management of Salem Lutheran Church and School properties.

“For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property.“

Included are the Brand Blvd Church and offices, the School and its offices, the Mountain Street Parsonage, and the Del Rey Parsonage. In addition to keeping these facilities maintained and repaired, our team meets to discuss possible projects and social outreach opportunities. We interact and problem solve with other ministry teams as we work together to implement the mission of the church. We are a group with great fellowship and a mutual love for Salem.

Our ministry is dedicated to fixing stuff, approving the use of stuff, hiring people to do stuff, volunteering to do stuff for others, debating questions from others about stuff, and having fun together while doing all this stuff!

Recent Projects

  • Remodeled the bathrooms in the Sanctuary, Office, and Fellowship Hall
  • Updated the Fireside Kitchen
  • Repaired and improved our Brand Blvd sign
  • Removed the front gates and updated all outdoor lights
  • Re-tiled the Fellowship hall entrances

Annual Event

Each September the team organizes “I Love Salem” Day, where everyone is invited to join in the care and improvement of the church. This is a fun day of work and fellowship with immediate results!

Giving to Others

The Facilities Team has volunteered over 90 hours of person power to Door of Hope, a transitional housing program in Pasadena, California.

On another occasion, we joined forces to work on the upkeep of El Camino Pines, one of our Lutheran Camping Ministries in Southern California. This particular event brought our families together for a weekend of work, fun, fellowship and worship.

For the past five years, team members have traveled to a suburb of Tijuana, Mexico to build a simple home for a needy family. 

For us, no boundaries exist to do God’s work!

Our Meeting

The team meets once per month. We enjoy dinner together with great fellowship and get a lot done! Join us!

Our team consists of the following valuable members: Randy Slaughter, TJ Denton, Eric Weidman, Giovanni LaScala, Sarah Watson , Dave Siebels, Diego Ramirez, Colleen Kramer Christensen, Joel Miller, Keith Calabrese, Brian Mullin, Scott Woodward, and Judson Smith.
